Hindu Wedding In Kerala

The engagement is conducted after checking the compatibility of both boy and girl, here the Bride and  Groom in their traditional Wedding dresses exchange rings. Usually the engagement is held as a sacred one and is not allowed to withdraw For fixing the day of the marriage.The usual procedure is that on the day given by the astrologer, two to three male members of the grooms family will go to the brides house and gives the astrology slip mentioning the day, date and the exact time (muhurtam) to conduct the wedding. Normally Tuesdays and Fridays are avoided for this visit. On marriage, the girl visits the temple of her favorite deity.

Christian Wedding In Kerala

Christian weddings in Kerala are held in the church.The groom invites the bride on the wedding day by sending her wedding transportation to the church and waits for her.The bride arrives dressed in her white wedding  gown or an off-white saree. The groom usually wears a formal suit. Bride is handed a bouquet of flowers by the groom’s best man. She is then is led down the aisle by her father . The priest there receives the couple and a wedding mass is held with special wedding songs from the Bible. The Nikah, conducted by musaliar reads selected verses from the Quran and the Nikah is complete after Ijab-e-Qubul (proposal and acceptance according to (Indian Marriage Law). After this the groom is led to the women's section. Here he will tie a gold chain around the neck of the bride, assisted by his sister. After the wedding there is a big reception, given by the bride's parents to guests from both sides. After the reception bride is taken to the groom's house and later they will proceed towards the bride's house.
